Dealing With Split Ends
We have two options: Leave your hair alone and let it continue to grow or "trim" your hair, which basically defeats the whole purpose of trying to grow out your hair. So, here are a few tips to help keep your split ends to a minimum.
1. Don't Split Your Ends
2. Avoid Heat Tools
- Shower at night and less often. I, for the most part will shower at night and sleep on my hair. Keep it in a towel for at least 15 minutes prior to bed. That way your hair will be completely dry before morning, eliminating the need for a blowdryer.
3. Hair Masque
4. Skip The Trim
We have a solid, healthy, hair dresser/customer relationship and guess what? -- Every time I would go see her she would comment on my hair length! So, my advice -- give JUST your split ends a hand trim with scissors at home. Stop getting professional trims or hand splitting them. I know I saw a difference.
Encouraging Hair Growth
- Scalp Massage. Whether you're bored at work, or conditioning your hair in the shower, a quick 30 second scalp massage will stimulate your hair growth!
- Turn upside down for 20 seconds. I read this in a magazine in high school and I was hooked. My friends thought I was crazy, except for one who did it with me and we both saw results! Be careful if it makes you uncomfortable or hurts your head. Stick with the scalp massage instead!
Happy hair growing!
