We have all had rushed mornings, whether your hit the snooze button 5 times (guilty), or you forgot to set an alarm or you overestimated your ability to get ready in 10 minutes. I know there have been mornings when I didn't have time to shower, but my hair was a giant grease-ball. I have to choose to beanie to to be late.
I have never bought any dry shampoo before, mostly because I would probably convince myself that showering is optional and nobody wants that! My sister used to use baby powder in her hair when she was in a rush and while that worked, it also left the not-so-feminine smell of baby powder behind.
One morning, I was rushing and saw my box of cornstarch in the kitchen...call me crazy if you would like, but I thought about the texture and how it works and decided to try it out... if I failed I could always grab a beanie right? But no beanie was needed, the cornstarch took the grease right out of my hair and I was ready to go!
After work, I was a bit embarrassed I had put cornstarch in my hair, cornstarch... in my hair! So I decided to google a few things and see if that is bad for me.. turns out it is a base of many Homemade Dry Shampoo Recipes.
So, here is the easiest ever, one ingredient, DIY Dry Shampoo! Leaves behind no odor, grease, or white powder! (If you have dark hair you can add cocoa powder to the cornstarch to match your hair color better.)
Spoonful of Cornstarch
Rub onto your palms
Start with your roots
Rub into your part and down your hair
Make sure to rub some cornstarch under your roots
Voila! You are ready to go.
Want to know the best part? Cornstarch is 10x cheaper that the cheapest dry shampoo. Oh happy day!
