For those of you who have never heard of a hair mask, they are great; it leaves your hair soft, silky and smooth! If you have heard of a hair mask, this method might be a little different from the many ways you have seen it done. If it's not, bare with me.
All you'll need is Coconut Oil and maybe a spoon. The brand you use is totally up to you. Jars can be found at almost any grocery store, such as: Trader Joe's, Ralphs, Sprouts, Vons, Stop and Shop, Publix etc. If you are thinking a whole jar just for a hair mask?! Don't worry you will find yourself using it for so much more, Coconut oil is amazing! I've used it to wash my face, take off my make up and yes, in my hair.
First, let your hair run its oil course, meaning don't wash it for a few days
and unbearably let that natural oil really set in (I hate greasy hair and if you do too then I LUV you!).
*You don't HAVE to wait to do this, it's just more convenient when you're already on planning to take a shower.
Right before bed, take a tablespoon of Coconut Oil (honestly, you can use however much your lovely heart desires), and rub it in your fingers to melt it down.
I wouldn't suggest putting it in your roots simply because your natural oil is already doing a fine job on your roots, and it takes even longer to wash out.
*Be sure wash your hair REALLY well to get all the oil out. The one time I didn't I had to go to work with OIL SPOTS in my hair; I wanted to cry I felt so gross (for those who loathe greasy hair you can sympathize with me).
This is a great way to refresh your hair when it looks like you just went swimming, without
actually swimming, or maybe your hair has felt the effects of one too many heat tools, or you just want to pamper your hair without a visit to a pricey spa. In any case this this will leave your hair feeling soft, smooth and silky. :)
