Think about it. You wait to graduate high school, wait to graduate college, wait for a job, wait for marriage, wait to have kids, wait for those kids to grow up, wait to retire and ultimately wait for death (or for those who believe in Jesus, you wait to spend eternity with Him!). Its apart of life and its apart of growing. As much as I hate to admit it, we all grow and learn so much through waiting.
We become stronger people, if we wait the right way. Jesus already sees where your future is heading. Look at Abraham, a man of faith! Yet, he lost heart when he didn't see the promise God made to him, when he thought it should have come. So he did it his way and it ended horribly. If we could only take that lesson and learn from it, to wait on God's timing. (Genesis 16-18 & 21)
I don't know the A, B, C steps to waiting but here are some things I am learning:
BE CONTENT with what you have. (Philippians 4:11)
COMMIT to God those things you desire and are waiting for. (Psalms 37:5)
TRUST in Him completely. (Proverbs 3:5)
Some things I have learned not to do, is:
Don’t take matters into your own hands. (Psalm 46:10)
Don’t give up your morals just because they aren't getting you anywhere. (Matthew 6:33)
Don't go throw yourself a pity party. (Habakuk 3:17-18)
I can enjoy the beautiful things I do have and learn to be thankful for them. Instead of telling God what we want, ask Him how you can honor Him with the things you already have, and what lessons are to be learned with where He has you right now!
Lastly... Jesus has HIS perfect timing for your life. It may not be what you thought, but it will be better and remember, "Is anything too hard to the Lord?" (Genesis 18:14)
What are you waiting for?
